Hope you had a great weekend, last week was a busy one – get ready to put on your skates...Don't let anyone ever tell you ours is a sleepy town....

Sunday finished early voting for this Tuesday's election. Over the last couple of weeks, you've heard us talk about amendment 1 – which is aobut tax reform. This is just one of the many times I really need you to go to our website STAR 94fm.com, read a newspaper, open the ballot that came in your mail to find out as much about all of the referendums that will be on Tuesday's ballot....Also, note you will be voting for Orlando mayor, and several other municipal options....Don't let it slip past you...

From yesterday's Community Connection on Cervical Health, I got calls on the numbers women can call for free or nominal charge exams – again you can go to our website for the CDC program that benefits women 50 to 64 and the number for the Orange Blossom Family Health Care center.... "Even when opportunity knocks, a man still has to get up off his seat and open the door." This "Super-Tuesday" is the day for you to open doors by getting off of your seat and going out to cast your vote in Florida's primary elections. The polls will be open and operating from 7am until 7pm. To find the poll nearest you call 1-866-MY-VOTE-1

On the ballot... the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates, the property tax referendum, Orlando mayoral candidates, and much, much more.

If you face any problems when you go to cast your vote, call the local office of the Florida State NAACP at 321-279-4807. And remember- there are no excuses for not seizing the opportunity and getting out to cast your vote. For more information on the offices up for elections, an instant poll locator, or the voter's bill of rights, please visit our website STAR94fm.com

Wed. 01/30/08
How did you make out in yesterday's election? Did you experience any difficulty in getting your vote in? Before I left yesterday morning, I fielded more than 20 calls about voter irregularities and what was perceived to be problems. Here's what the State Conference NAACP decided, if you are a registered Democrat and if for some reason you were given a Republican or non-partisan ballot yesterday – go to the state office at 397 Church Street and fill out another voter registration form that will be taken directly to the Elections office and tracked. STAR 94.5 and the NAACP will help you get your right to vote

On another note – let's help Jones High School welcome football great, Kenard Lang as the tigers new head coach. There will be a reception for the community, faculty and students to greet him right before the Friday's season final basketball game at 6:00 PM in the historical site reception area on the campus.
