On that January 29th ballot there will be many referendums. You need to know what you're voting on and one of the issues is on tax reform. On this Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m., you're invited to a workshop to hear the full explanation from State Senator Gary Siplin and Representative Geraldine Thompson. That's at the Smith Center and then also that night at 6:00 p.m. there's an even larger workshop planned at the Educational Leadership Center on Amelia Street –

Today would have been the 79th birthday of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. The great Nobel Laureate was not only a Baptist minister, and African American Civil Rights leader – but a husband to Coretta Scott and dad to four children....A man with a vision of peace for not just the black community, but all who lived in it....What are you doing to perpetuate his dream? Think a moment on that...Are you completing your education? Living to the highest standard you can imagine....Making sure that your children are taken care of...becoming a registered voter....voting....If you are – then that's making a difference...If you're not, why not?

King once said that "Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase.... Meeting our new Chief of the Orlando Police Department was a great experience also...If you missed her yesterday, Chief Val Demings will be at Wadeview Center on Summerlin Avenue today at 5:30 and then at Colonialtown Center on Lake Highland Drive at 7. Please make plans to attend. The Chief made her vision clear to Orlando residents – she is here to clean up our streets, but realizing she can't do it alone – she wants a commitment from us as well.. As we head into a celebration weekend for Dr. Martin Luther King – some activities to point out are – The annual Alpha's luncheon today where they'll hand out the prestigious Drum Major Award – I was lucky enough to be one of several community members receiving one and I'm honored. It's all to benefit the Hankins Johnson Eduation Foundation...that's today @ noon at the Convention Center – individual tickets are still available.

The Deltona Dream Keepers invite you to celebrate Dr. King with them this weekend for their annual breakfast tomorrow, Sunday's gospel program and the festival on Monday.

Chief Val Demings is the speaker for an event at the Wellsbuilt Museum on Monday – How women have benefited from the dream of Dr. King at a lunch and learn hosted by State Representative Geraldine Thompson...
