Welcome back from the weekend! Hey, thanks for hanging out with us at Lake Eola for Spring Fiesta, i between the rain drops we made several STAR listeners happy with Orlando Magic tickets, t-shirts and flags as well as Al jarreau tickets. Now get ready family for our 13th annual block party at the end of the month.

Another busy week is ahead – On Wednesday April, 9th – registration begins for youngsters about to attend kindergarten or 1st grade. Parents, check our website STAR94fm.com for links...now is a good time to make sure their immunizations are up to date.

And for my students about to attend college – I know you've been looking for scholarships, right? Don't forget the UNCF scholarship that's available to all Orange County seniors – has a deadline of this Wednesday April 9th as well...If you remember we told you that the nomination must come from your high school principal or counselors.... Again details are on our website STAR94fm.com – sTAR Cares about our community.

Many of you called yesterday, confused if there were free health screenings available since Tom Joyner went into Take A Loved one to the Doctor a little early this year. Again, while there were no free visits yesterday, there is a health fair this weekend that will offer free screenings. Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 412 Kennedy Boulevard in Eatonville beginning at 10am.. There's something there for the whole family and you don't HAVE to live in Eatonville to participate...

April is National Minority Health Awareness Month and Tom just wants to give us all a jump start to our September event, so take a loved one to the doctor today or any day.

Today is the deadline for the UNCF scholarship to be forwarded for High school seniors, By now you should have sought out as many means as possible to finance your college days and look to the bank for loans as your very last resort...More scholarship and funding info is available on our website – STAR94fm.com – STAR Cares about our community...

With all that's facing our military, I think this is wonderful - elementary students from Catalina, Ivey Lane, Richmond Heights and Tangelo Park are going to show their patriotism in song and dance this Friday nite from 6 – 8 pm in a free FREEDOM Concert at Jones High School 801 S. Rio Grande Avenue. All military men and women, first responders and other vets are welcome - AS is the public.

While we're at it, Dr. Windom – Principal at Richmond Heights and Scott Peters at Eccleston send out monthly parent tips for their young students and I like to share them with my STAR listeners....create a buddy system with the other parents in your neighborhood to get your kids to and from school..even if they ride the bus – it's good to buddy up...make sure your child knows never to leave the school without anyone they don't know...If there's a change in who picks your child up, let them know in advanve- if they're walking alone which is not good – teach them about strangers and most importantly make sure they leave in enough time to not rush and forget all their safety tips...STAR Cares about our community....

Fri. 04/11/08
It's the final weekend before tax time and did you know that even if you don't file you may still be eligible for the tax rebate...IRS consultants will be on hand to walk you thru the application process tomorrow from 10am until 1pm at New Convenant on S. Rio Grande...Go to our website for details.

Tomorrow also – you can Take A Loved One to one of two health fairs at the Northwest Community Center 3933 W.D. Judge or to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 412 Kennedy Boulevard in Eatonville, both begin at 10am and between the two, there will be close to 100 providers offering free health screenings for you and your family...So please make it to one of them.
