The Kobe Bryant preliminary hearing that ended on an ugly note last week resumes Wednesday with a new mess involving the accuser's medical records.

The hearing in Eagle, Colorado, will determine whether the Los Angeles basketball star will stand trial for sex assault.

Both sides have asked the judge to close some or all of the rest of the hearing. The judge will begin the day with a separate hearing to make a determination on those requests.

Prosecutors are angry that one of Bryant's lawyers asked a detective on the witness stand last week a question about the accuser's injuries that implied recent promiscuity.

Prosecutors say the accuser's sex history is off limits under Colorado's rape shield law.

The prosecution has also disclosed that a hospital released more of the accuser's medical records than lawyers had asked for.
