Despite what you may have thought by the defeat of the Mobility 20/20 plan, tolls are still coming to I-4.
Mobility 20/20 was voted down, but the state's plans to put toll roads on I-4 lives on. The sales tax would have just made it happen sooner.
"It would have enabled the construction of 23 miles, basically all of I-4 in Orange County to have it completed by the year 2012." said Steve Homan with the state Department Of Transportation.
Homan says even if the lanes are completed, you'll still be able to drive for free. the toll lanes, would be in the center of the current lanes.
"The toll would depend on how much time you would save." according to Homan.
Then when the full stretch was completed, the tolls would go away, which could happen in 2015.
