hispanic has been a poorly used word by our communites to describe a spanish peaking individual or an individual from latin america.
in reality hispanic mean that the person in question is from one of the european spanish countries while the "latino" term has been coined for people from anywhere in latin america where spanish is spoken.
for example:
a person from spain is a spaniard but also can be called a hispanic. while a person from puerto rico is caribbean but is also a latino.

hope this helps
by the way thanks for the "suavemente song"
