All About kgee (8^)
Born: October 28th
a Scorpio
and YES, what youve heard about us is true!
Best Movie: I treat myself to the movies every Friday afternoon (sometimes two or three times a weekend depending whats out). I am a fan of the Blaxplotation films of the 70s (especially anything with Pam Grier in it for two very BIG reasons) but if I were stuck on an island with only one DVD to watch I would have to say Good Fellas.
My Favorite Artist: Another tough one. If you peeked at my iPod , you would have no idea who it belonged to. I have everything on there from the Beatles to Lil Wayne but if I were forced to choose only one artist to listen to for the rest of my life, I would have to say a compilation of hits from the 80s it was a GREAT decade musically & for me personally.
Favorite Food: Almost everything Italian.
Favorite Childhood Memory: Hands down Christmas mornings my mom & dad did a fantastic job making sure my I had everything I asked Santa for so much so that my family & friends would rush over to my house on Christmas Day, leaving their own toys behind, to come see what I had to play with. I couldnt see our living room floor for all the presents. I will always LOVE them for many reasons but for also making that specific memory a special one.
Sports Team: Being from Philadelphia I love the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76ers & my adopted home team, the Orlando Magic.
Favorite TV shows: I have to admit I probably spend too much time watching TV when I should be reading but its my one guilty pleasures other than ice cream. I like the TV shows from the 70s like Good Times & Sanford & Son. On Network TV, its Law & Order (all of them the reruns too), House, Greys Anatomy, 60s Minutes & Americas Next Top Model. On cable, ESPN, HGTV, The Food Network, CNN & Travel Channel. I watch Crash (the TV show) on STARZ, Dexter & The Tudors on Showtime, Entourage on HBO but if I could only watch one TV program, it would, hands down, be The Sopranos (even with the crappy series finale I am waiting on the movie to make up for it). All in HD 1080p of course!
Vacation Spot: Aruba for rest & relaxation & Vegas for fun & excitement.
If I wasn't in radio, I'd be: I would have loved to have been a professional athlete or musician but I cant do either of those well enough to be paid for (except if they wanted me to stop). My family & friends always said I give great advice, as you can hear on the Quiet Storm, so I would probably be a marriage or some other type of counselor where people would pay me to talk & theyd listen hey, I do that now somebody owes me an extra paycheck!
Most Influential Person In My Life: Without being too corny or PC, I would honestly say GOD. I dont always do the right thing & I am as human as the next person but I DO know that he is the foundation of who I am, who I aspire to be & thats a better version of me than I was the day before. I want to be an example & proof that he LIVES!
Magazines You Subscribe To: None but I buy them all. I travel often so Hudson News out of OIA gets a lot of my money Ebony, Essence, Jet (even though the news & info is dated we have to support our own), Black Enterprise, King (I do that for me), Dwell, Vibe (hopefully Quincy Jones will buy it back & resurrect it), Source, Consumer Report, Sports Illustrated, TIME, ESPN the Magazine, Home Theater the list goes on & on whatever looks appealing & depending on how long a flight I have.
Things That Annoy Me: Rude people & poor customer service although I try to live by the creed, Unless its brain surgery, its not life threatening, well get through it & be better for it.
What City Are You From: Philadelphia, PA.
Dream Car: Bentley Continental GTC or Speed or the Rolls Royce Phantom (from Iron Man).
If I Were President, I'd Pick Who To Be My VP: Probably the pound for pound best fighter in the WORLD Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather or that other boxer who keeps kicking everyones butt they put in front of him no matter how much BIGGER they are than he is oh yeah Manny Pacquiao. I am going to need someone whos going to be tough on crime, illegal drugs & immigration, N. Korea, Iraq, the former Soviet Union, health care, the economy, Wall Street, etc hey that would be my job right?
Marital Status: That depends on what state I am in.
Favorite City: Las Vegas or Miami in the US. Rio or London outside the country.
Favorite Way to Relax: At home watching TV or at the movies with a $17,000 combo of popcorn, candy & a soda.
Motto: "When one of us start running, we all start running"
Favorite Song of All Time: Being in radio, my favorite song sometimes changes but I would have to say probably Loving is Really My Game from Brainstorm. I love the violins or synthesizers near the end.
Best Concert: Michael Jackson & The Jacksons Victory Tour was the most electric Ive attended. By that I mean there were over 65.000 screaming fans in the building & we had front row seats. Michael Jackson sweated on me when he did one of his flamboyant dance moves but I would have to say my 1st was my favorite. It was the Parliament/Funkadelic & the Mother Ship tour. My dads girlfriend at the time took me because I couldnt go by myself (too young or so my mom thought) & she was attractive. Someone from school saw me with her, asked me the next day who she was & I told her that she was just one of several cuties I had access to. Hey it was high school & I was The Man after that a freshman pulling seniors.
Track Record in Da Business: I have been in commercial radio since 1986. Its funny too because my 1st job was in Orlando. I was the morning man at WOKB AM (Soft Tunes/Tiger Radio).
Favorite Interview: I have 3 that come to mind for different reasons. Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis (for their love & commitment to the business & each other), Tina Turner (I only had seconds to prepare. I killed the interview & I got to slob her down with body guards standing only inches away. Hey I took a chance the beat down would have been worth it) & Phyllis Hyman (because it was shortly before she passed away & I got to share it again with my listeners in another market right after she died).
Biggest Regret: I dont have any. I always share with GOD that I would not have done it any other way. I have had some good experiences, some bad ones & I have learned from them all.
Best Advice: Smart people learn from their mistakes. Smarter people learn from others mistakes. Or as a kid, dont eat the yellow snow.
Unfinished Business: My PHD. I always wanted to be known as Dr. kgee (8^), PHD.
Most asked Question: Do you know how fast you were going?
Six People For Dinner: President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith (he can bring Jada), Vanessa Williams or Kenya Moore (which ever Miss America is available Id be cool with either), Eddie Murphy & Toccara (from Americas Next Top Model - thats if Jada doesnt come).
