- Tribute to Gospel Giant & Historian Horace Boyer (1935-2009)On Sunday, November 1, 2009, 4PM, Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL, the Liturgy & Music Commission of the Diocese of Central Florida in conjunction with the Union of Black Episcopalians is holding a special tribute service honoring gospel music giant and historian Horace Clarence Boyer (1935-2009).
Choirs from the Diocese of Central Florida will sing music composed, arranged and performed by Boyer, a Winter Park native son. The program (All Saints Evensong with a Special Commemoration of Horace Clarence Boyer) includes his anthems Step by Step, It Is My Desire and Lord, Your Word Is a Lamp as well as music from Lift Every Voice and Sing II: An African American Hymnal for which he was general editor. The Evensong setting is Afro-Centric Evensong by Boyer mentee Carl MaultsBy. - NABA-Orlando ChapterThe National Association of Black Accountants has change their meeting venue on October 20th to a "Night of Networking" with Strayer University from 6:00-7:30 pm.
