I'll share more on why you need to re-register if you think your info isn't correct – and if you registered Non-party – you won't be able to vote in the upcoming elections...Please get out the vote...STAR Cares about our community...

Another great day – this time at Evans High School. WE all know the struggles that school has faced...the media has painted a pretty bleak picture....between their move to Ocoee to their 9th grade center and then there's that failing grade...but you know what I saw? I saw some mannerly, well spoken, well behaved, smart, conscientious, lawyers, doctors, teachers, politicians and business women...I met authors and explorers, the next Senator – yes that's what she told me...we registered students to vote through Vote or Shut up – the young peoples non-profit dedicated to getting the word out to vote...I also met with the Orange County Teacher of the Year-Jennifer Boh....All that in one day on one campus...move it or not...STAR 94.5 would still go to the ends of the city to keep up with this great group of kids...So until you've walked on their campus, volunteered in their classroom, let's not be so quick to judge....IN spite of all that has happened lately, that same group of kids have made it to the Regional Championship for the 1st time since 1975, the Cheerleaders placed in the FHSAA competition and now their 1st ever Show Choir is heading to the Heritage Festival in Chicago next month...they've raised more than half of their money – they still need a little over 3 thousand dollars to take 34 students...if you'd like to make a donation – please go to our website STAR94fm.comSTAR cares about our community

Again, it's this Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Barnett Park 4801 West Colonial Drive

This is right on time, because this month, May we'll cover information on high blood pressure, stroke awareness, skin cancer, reading enrichment and adoption. We'll also talk about infant mortality as it relates to our black babies...here's a quick did you know question - did you know that - nationally - twice as many black babies die before their 1st birthday than white babies. We'll discuss why and what we can do to help this alarming statistic. We will also speak with the director of Mocha Moms, an agency for African American moms, the upcoming YMCA 1st time ever swim meet for black youth and more on Community Connection which airs 6:30 Sunday mornings...STAR Cares about our community.
