7 AM - Elderly Couple Brutally Stabbed While Walking Out Of Target
MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Mount Dora Police released the names of the elderly couple viciously stabbed Saturday in a busy Target parking lot.
Leesburg residents Phillip and Sandra Heintzen, ages 80 and 70 respectively, are both recovering at ORMC after police say 24-year-old Johnathan Michael Levy stabbed them both while they walked to their car parked in a handicapped parking spot.
Phillip Heintzen suffered the worst injuries. He is in the intensive care unit at ORMC and police say it's too early to tell whether he'll survive. His wife is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Levy, of Eustis, now faces two charges of attempted murder. Police said they don't know why he attacked this unsuspecting couple, after Eyewitness News asked if robbery was the motive.
Sunday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's dive team found what they believe are the two knives Levy used in this attack in a lake behind a Chili's restaurant near the stabbing scene.
People who live in this area are scared, concerned and outraged. They say the seemingly random attack should have never happened.
"I don't know what people are thinking these days," said shopper Courtney Morris. "I don't understand whats going on. It's bad, I just cant believe it. I have no words, its awful."
